Virat Kohli Reclaims World No.1 in Latest ICC Rankings

Virat Kohli has reclaimed the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, marking a triumphant return to the top following India’s four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first ODI at Vadodara.

The Indian great anchored the chase with a composed 93 off 91 balls as India hunted down a 300-run target, once again underlining his enduring dominance in international cricket. The knock not only sealed the win but also pushed Kohli closer to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar on the all-time international run-scoring chart, where he now stands second.

It is Kohli’s first stint at the summit since July 2021 and the 11th time in his career that he has topped the rankings. With 825 days spent as the world’s best-ranked ODI batter, he now holds the record for the most days at No.1 by any Indian player, placing him 10th on the all-time list led by Sir Vivian Richards and Brian Lara.

The resurgence comes amid a remarkable run of form. Since the Australia series, Kohli has registered scores of 74 not out, 135, 102, 65 not out and 93—numbers that reflect a batsman operating at the peak of his powers even at 37.

Mitchell Presses Close, Conway Climbs

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell emerged as the biggest mover near the top. His aggressive 84 off 71 in the opening ODI propelled him to his career-best ranking, leaving him just one rating point behind Kohli. Mitchell has been in prolific touch, recording three half-centuries in his last five ODIs and a recent century against the West Indies.

Devon Conway also made notable progress, climbing three places to 29th as he continues to deliver consistent starts at the top of the order.

Siraj, Jamieson Make Gains Among Bowlers

In the ODI bowling charts, Mohammed Siraj’s incisive spell earned him a five-place jump to 15th, where he now sits alongside Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson produced one of the most dramatic climbs, leaping 27 places to 69th after claiming a career-best four-wicket haul against India. He now shares that spot with India’s Arshdeep Singh.

Ashes Impact: Head, Bethell, Neser on the Rise

The conclusion of the Ashes series also triggered significant movement in the Test rankings. Australia’s Travis Head was the standout performer, soaring seven places to third after finishing as the leading run-scorer in the series. His 629 runs at an average of 62.90, including three centuries, cemented his status as one of the format’s premier batters.

England’s Jacob Bethell jumped 25 spots to joint 52nd following a memorable maiden Test hundred in the final match, while Australia all-rounder Michael Neser climbed seven places to 47th after an influential showing in Sydney.

Beau Webster enjoyed gains across all three disciplines. He rose six places to 58th among batters, surged 29 spots to 80th in the bowling rankings, and climbed 22 places to 26th in the all-rounders’ list after a commanding performance in the series finale.

T20I Shake-Up: Hasaranga, Mirza, Farhan in Focus

In T20Is, Sri Lanka leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga advanced three spots to second among bowlers after a series-levelling performance against Pakistan.

Pakistan pacer Salman Mirza made a notable leap, rising 16 places to 19th following his three-wicket haul against Sri Lanka. Strong contributions with the bat lifted Sahibzada Farhan one place to fifth, while captain Salman Agha jumped 13 positions to 41st.

Raza Reclaims All-Rounder Crown

The all-rounders’ standings saw another change at the top. Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza returned to the No.1 position after Pakistan’s Saim Ayub slipped one place in the latest update.
