"Three months after the mysterious death of Biren Tamuli, a resident of Chandmari, Guwahati, new revelations have surfaced, shedding light on a cold and calculated murder allegedly carried out by his former caretaker, Suman Koch.Advertisment A crime with no initial leads At the time of the incident, police investigators had little to no information to work with. Crucial evidence was missing, and even the CCTV system installed at Tamuli"s residence had its hard disk destroyed. However, a single CCTV footage obtained later became the turning point in the case. Based on this footage, police arrested the prime suspect, former caretaker Suman Koch, nearly a month after the murder. A dispute over unpaid salary According to police sources, Suman had been working as a caretaker for Biren Tamuli and was expecting to receive ₹60,000–₹80,000 as pending salary. Despite repeated attempts, he allegedly never received the money. After being unable to recover the amount, Suman left the job and took up work as a Zomato delivery agent. Investigators say that although he was well-educated, his frustration over the unpaid dues eventually pushed him towards planning the crime. Meticulous planning inspired by crime shows During interrogation, Suman reportedly admitted that he had spent nearly two months watching the television show Crime Patrol to learn how to execute the murder without leaving evidence. On the day of the incident, he called several people living near Tamuli"s home to confirm that the victim was alone. The Murder and an attempt to stage a suicide As per the investigation, Suman arrived on a scooter but parked it midway, leaving his mobile phone inside to avoid location tracking. He then crossed a nearby railway track and entered Tamuli"s residence. Once inside, he allegedly killed Biren Tamuli with a clear and calculated plan. To mislead investigators, he even tried to make the death appear as a suicide. Additionally, Suman is accused of destroying the hard disk of the CCTV system inside the house to eliminate any evidence of his presence. CCTV footage becomes the key to cracking the case Despite his attempts to cover up the crime, one external CCTV camera captured footage of Suman approaching the area. This single visual, now accessed by DY365, provided the breakthrough the police needed. Using the footage, investigators were able to trace his movements and ultimately arrest him.
