Assam: Two-Month-Old Infant’s Death After Vaccination Shocks Hajo, Sparks Questions

A sense of grief has gripped Kaibartatola in Hajo following the mysterious death of a two-month-old baby girl after she was given vaccines at the Kaibartatola Ayushman Arogya Mandir, a sub-health centre.

Sources said the infant fell sick soon after health workers administered three vaccines during the day. As her condition worsened, the baby was taken to the Hajo Community Health Centre for treatment.

After examining the child, a paediatrician advised the parents to shift her to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for better medical care. However, the infant reportedly died before further treatment could be provided.

The parents have alleged that their daughter became seriously ill and died due to the vaccines that were administered, raising concerns about the vaccination procedure.

On the other hand, health workers at the Ayushman Arogya Mandir said the baby had been physically weak since birth, which is why her one-month vaccination had earlier been postponed. They stated that the infant suddenly collapsed after receiving the vaccines on the day of the incident.

The incident has shocked the local community, with residents mourning the loss and seeking clear answers about the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
