“The party that failed to preserve unity within itself — forcing leaders like Bhupen Borah to exit the Indian National Congress — cannot be expected to sustain a unified opposition alliance,” Bora said.

He further praised the development initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that the state has witnessed significant progress over the past five years.

“The people of Assam have clearly recognised the transformation brought about in recent years. The Chief Minister has successfully translated his vision into reality,” Bora remarked.

Highlighting key infrastructure projects, he added, “Major initiatives such as the elevated corridor at Kaziranga National Park, the expansion of four-lane highways, and the proposed tunnel connectivity between Numaligarh and Gohpur were once unimaginable during the Congress era.”

Bora also criticised the previous Congress government, alleging that corruption had overshadowed governance. “The people of Assam have not forgotten those years marked by corruption and lack of development,” he said.

Emphasising the political outlook ahead of the elections, Bora asserted, “Considering the scale of development witnessed since 2014, Assam does not require a new political alternative. Regardless of the opposition’s efforts, the people of Assam are unlikely to welcome Congress in the upcoming elections.”
