Construction safety is under scrutiny again in the city after a concrete chunk fell from an under-construction flyover in Ambari on Saturday night, hitting a moving vehicle.

Guwahati: Serious concerns have once again been raised over construction safety after a chunk of concrete fell from an under-construction flyover in the city on Saturday night.

The incident took place in the Ambari area when a portion of concrete reportedly broke off from the flyover structure and crashed onto a moving vehicle below. A Tata Safari bearing registration number AS 01 EZ 9565 sustained significant damage in the incident.

According to sources, the occupants of the vehicle had a narrow escape. The impact shattered the front windshield and left the vehicle badly damaged. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Local police reached the spot soon after the incident and assessed the situation. The incident has sparked fresh allegations of negligence against the construction agency responsible for the flyover project.

The vehicle owner has demanded adequate compensation from the construction company, holding it accountable for the damage caused. Residents have also expressed concern over recurring safety lapses at construction sites, warning that such negligence could lead to more serious accidents in the future.
