Addressing the media, Gogoi alleged that peace would not return to Karbi Anglong as long as Himanta Biswa Sarma remains in power. He further claimed that the persistent land crisis in the hill district would continue so long as the current leadership, including Chief Minister Tuliram Ronghang, stays in office.

Calling for a change in government, the APCC President said that removing the BJP from power was essential for people to live with peace and self-respect. He accused the Chief Minister of promoting conflict among different communities and ethnic groups for political gain.

Gogoi also alleged that the state government was conspiring to hand over land to corporate interests, claiming that land could be transferred to capitalists “at the press of a single button.” He asserted that the BJP government had no sincere intent to resolve issues related to PGR (Professional Grazing Reserve) and VGR (Village Grazing Reserve) land.

Emphasising the need for a lawful and peaceful approach, Gogoi said that conflicts in Karbi Anglong should be addressed through dialogue and within the framework of the law. He accused the Chief Minister of adopting a deliberate strategy of instigating conflicts between communities.

The APCC President further claimed that the present government had destroyed the harmonious social fabric of Assam that was nurtured during the tenure of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

The statements come amid ongoing concerns over land rights and ethnic tensions in Karbi Anglong, which continue to draw political attention across the state.
