Addressing party supporters, Gogoi alleged that the Chief Minister was indulging in politics to collect wealth for his family and claimed that the expansion of his family’s business interests was pushing Assam towards destruction. He asserted that governance in the state had taken a back seat to personal gains.

The Congress leader said that if a Congress-led government comes to power in Assam, it would release a white paper detailing the amount of money the Chief Minister invested in his family-owned companies. He further alleged that the illegal assets of the Chief Minister’s family would be seized and distributed among the poor under a Congress government.

Targeting the ruling BJP, Gogoi took a swipe at the party, claiming that there were “cattle thieves” within its own party, reflecting what he described as internal corruption.

Gogoi also raised the issue of granting Scheduled Tribe status to six communities, stating that the Chief Minister had no authority to refuse the promise of tribal status before elections. He accused the state government of misleading the public on the sensitive issue.

The Congress president further claimed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was unsettled by the rising popularity of the Congress ahead of the elections. According to Gogoi, this had prompted the Chief Minister to allegedly plan electoral victory by bringing voters from outside the state through SR.

The BJP has not yet responded to the allegations made by the Congress leader.
