Jatin Bora says Zubeen Garg was taken advantage of, expresses confidence in chargesheet

Popular Assamese actor Jatin Bora has shared an emotional tribute to the late music legend Zubeen Garg, portraying him as a man of extraordinary simplicity and trust. Speaking at an event in Nagaon, Bora reflected on Zubeen’s ability to treat almost anyone like family within moments — a quality, he said, that many people sadly misused.

Bora recalled that Zubeen often trusted others too readily, leaving him vulnerable to manipulation. Citing a personal memory, the actor revealed that he had once urged Zubeen not to travel to Singapore. “I told him not to go,” Bora said. “But Zubeen insisted he had to, because Syamkanu had threatened to commit suicide if he refused.”

The actor expressed deep regret over the circumstances that unfolded in the singer’s final days, saying that Zubeen’s gentle and innocent nature had been repeatedly taken advantage of.

Speaking on the ongoing legal developments in the case, Bora said he is strongly confident about the chargesheet submitted. “I have full faith in the judiciary,” he stated. “If Zubeen Garg cannot get justice, then nobody else should expect justice.”

Bora became visibly emotional as he reflected on his three-decade-long friendship with the late musician. “Zubeen Garg will remain alive as long as music exists in this world,” he said. “We were friends for over 30 years, and I still cannot accept that he is gone. I’m known as an actor today only because 90% of my songs were sung by him. I feel lonely now — I have no one left to talk to about movies and music.”

Zubeen Garg, one of the most influential cultural icons of Assam, continues to inspire millions even after his passing, with tributes pouring in from across the state and beyond.
