The event was attended by Guwahati Lok Sabha MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Assam Cabinet Minister Chandramohan Patowary, along with several senior officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway.The newly introduced Amrit Bharat Express has been designed keeping the needs of ordinary passengers in mind, offering improved amenities and enhanced safety features. Similar to the Vande Bharat Express, the train is equipped with advanced safety systems, including the accident-prevention ‘Kavach’ technology.Unlike premium services, the Amrit Bharat Express does not include any air-conditioned coaches. The rake consists of eight general class coaches and eleven sleeper class coaches, making it a cost-effective option for long-distance travellers. The train is capable of running at a maximum speed of 130 km per hour, with fares estimated at around ₹500 per 1,000 kilometres.Meanwhile, the Railways have also announced the inauguration of another new service—the Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) Amrit Bharat Express.
