During the search operation, as many as 29 mobile phones were seized. Police also recovered several objectionable and prohibited items, which inmates are legally not permitted to possess or use inside the jail.
It may be recalled that allegations of criminal activities being operated from inside Sribhumi district jail have surfaced multiple times in the past.

In some instances, charge sheets have even been filed against inmates for allegedly conspiring to commit murder while lodged in jail.

These repeated incidents raise serious questions about the reformative role of the prison system and the effectiveness of jail administration. The latest seizure has made it evident that mobile phones and other banned items are easily accessible inside the jail, pointing towards grave lapses and irregularities.

The recovery of 29 mobile phones during the search has once again exposed the scale of mismanagement and violations within Sribhumi district jail.
