PM Modi to inaugurate India's first bamboo-based Bio-Ethanol plant in Numaligarh

In a significant boost to Assam's development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Numaligarh on September 14 to inaugurate India's first bamboo-based 2^nd Generation bio-ethanol project. The project, undertaken by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), marks a major milestone in India's pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.

The plant, which is India's first bamboo ethanol plant, will process 300,000 tonnes of bamboo annually, producing 50,000 tonnes of fuel-grade ethanol. This initiative not only promotes renewable energy but also generates livelihood opportunities for over 50,000 people, including farmers and entrepreneurs, in the region.

The project is part of NRL's efforts to harness the potential of bamboo, an abundant resource in Assam, to create a green supply chain. The inauguration of this project is expected to give a significant push to the region's economic development and reinforce India's commitment to sustainable development.

The visit is generating considerable excitement among the local residents, who are eagerly awaiting the Prime Minister's arrival. Extensive preparations are underway, including the setup of a massive mandap for lakhs of people, and other arrangements. Tight security measures have been put in place, with thousands of police and administrative personnel deployed to ensure a smooth and secure visit.

Local MLA Mrinal Saikia has played a key role in preparing for the visit, decorating the newly built road with Neem tree saplings, banners, and posters to make the Prime Minister's visit memorable.
