PM’s Kaliabor visit: Police issue traffic advisory, diversions announced

The police administration has issued special traffic guidelines ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Kaliabor on 17th of January, where a large public gathering is expected. The advisory aims to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the programme.

Nagaon District Commissioner and Superintendent of Police recently visited the Mouchanda field, the venue of the event, to review logistical and traffic arrangements. Around the venue, large constituency-wise parking facilities will be set up at eight designated locations to accommodate the expected rush.

According to the traffic plan, vehicles travelling from Tezpur towards Nagaon will be diverted via Borghuli. Vehicles heading from Tezpur towards Jakhalabandha and Jorhat will be routed through Sulung via Silghat–Kuwaritol. However, no traffic restrictions will be imposed on vehicles travelling from Guwahati towards Jorhat or Tezpur.

To ease congestion, the under-construction flyover at Kaliabor Tiniali will be temporarily opened for vehicular movement for a few days. Officials said nearly 4,000 vehicles are expected at the venue on the day of the programme.

For security and traffic management, around 3,500 police personnel will be deployed. Authorities estimate that nearly two lakh people will attend the event.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the proposed elevated corridor connecting Rangalu in Kaliabor to Kaziranga. Police have urged commuters to follow the traffic advisories and cooperate with authorities to avoid inconvenience.
