Agartala: Indian Vice President CP Radhakrishnan is set to visit Agartala, the capital of Tripura, on 7 and 8 March. During his two-day visit, he will preside over the convocation ceremony at Tripura University and take part in a series of official engagements.

According to West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Vishal Kumar, the vice president will also offer prayers at the revered Tripura Sundari Temple in Matabari. In addition to attending the university’s convocation, he is scheduled to visit the Hapania Fairgrounds, where he will interact with beneficiaries popularly known as ‘Lakhpati Didis.'

“Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will visit Tripura on March 7 and 8, which is a moment of pride and happiness for the people of the state. During the visit, he will offer prayers at the Matabari temple, attend the convocation ceremony of Tripura University, and interact with the Lakhpati Didis at the Hapania Fairgrounds. All necessary arrangements have been put in place by the state government and central agencies, including Tripura University,” an official statement by Kumar quoted.

Kumar described the visit as a matter of pride and joy for the people of the state, adding that comprehensive arrangements have been made by the state administration, central agencies, and the university authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of all events.

Previously, on 22 February, the vice president laid the foundation stone for a statue of freedom fighter VO Chidambaram Pillai in Madurai. Widely remembered by the epithet ‘Kappalottiya Tamizhan,' Chidambaram Pillai was hailed by Radhakrishnan as a beacon of the Indian freedom struggle.
