AAP Assam Questions CM Sarma: “Is Gaurav Gogoi’s Case About National Security or Personal Politics?"

AAP Assam’s State General Secretary (Organisation) Rajib Saikia questioned the Chief Minister’s intent behind making public statements instead of taking constitutional action if the allegations were indeed true.

If the Chief Minister’s claims are true, why hasn’t any legal or constitutional action been initiated against the MP?

In a press release issued today, AAP Assam’s State General Secretary (Organisation) Rajib Saikia questioned the Chief Minister’s intent behind making public statements instead of taking constitutional action if the allegations were indeed true.

Saikia pointed out that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had already been constituted to probe the alleged Pakistan link, and the SIT had submitted its report to the Chief Minister on September 10. “If the report has already been submitted, why has it not been made public yet?” Saikia asked.

He further questioned, “If the Chief Minister’s claims are true, why hasn’t any legal or constitutional action been initiated against the MP? And if the SIT report contains concrete findings, why is it being kept under wraps instead of being shared with the people of Assam?”

Terming the matter serious, Saikia said, “A secret connection with Pakistan is no small issue for a sitting Member of Parliament. It should not be treated as political drama.”

The AAP leader also accused the Chief Minister of using the issue for political mileage ahead of the 2026 elections. “Is this a personal feud, or a fight to safeguard the sovereignty of India? Or is this merely a political tactic to corner Gaurav Gogoi until the next election?” he questioned.

Saikia urged the Chief Minister to reveal the true facts through the SIT report instead of making politically charged remarks in the media, adding that the ongoing controversy has already vitiated Assam’s political environment.

Meanwhile, on the issue of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Gaurav Gogoi, CM Sarma today repeated his allegation that Gogoi has links with Pakistan, calling him “100% a Pakistani agent.” He mocked suggestions from Leader of Opposition (LoP) Debabrata Saikia that Gogoi should file a case against him, saying he would welcome litigation. The chief minister added that whether or not Gogoi sues, his party (BJP) will disclose details after the police file a charge sheet in the Zubeen Garg case.

Referring to an earlier timeline, CM Sarma said he had challenged Gogoi to reveal any alleged Pakistani links on September 10, 2025, but defended taking extra time, suggesting he might reveal facts on January 10 instead. “If the opposition wants it on the 10th for their benefit, why should I give it on the 10th? Now I will give it on the 11th day, not the 10th,” he said, adding that delivering justice in the Zubeen Garg matter remains the government’s first priority before pursuing the Gogoi allegations.
