Proceedings will commence at 9:30 am in the Assembly Chamber at Dispur, with the Governor expected to attend the opening sitting.Reports indicate that the Assam Budget for 2026–27 is likely to be presented on February 17, although the exact date will be finalised after deliberations of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).The Budget Session is expected to witness extensive discussions on Assam’s economic direction, development strategies, and sector-specific spending plans. With infrastructure growth and welfare initiatives remaining high on the state government’s agenda, the session is seen as a key platform for outlining priorities ahead of the next financial year.Parliament’s Budget SessionEven as Assam gears up for its Budget Session, preparations are also in motion at the national level. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will chair an all-party meeting on January 27 to build consensus ahead of Parliament’s Budget Session.The meeting, scheduled to be held in the main Committee Room of Parliament, will bring together floor leaders from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Discussions are expected to focus on legislative priorities and coordination to ensure smooth proceedings.Parliament’s Budget Session will run from January 28 to April 2, divided into two segments. The first phase will conclude on February 13, followed by a recess, while the second phase will resume on March 9 and continue until April 2.
