It will kick off on 28 January with the President's traditional address to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.The Economic Survey, prepared by Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran and serving as an important overview ahead of the main financial statement, is expected to be tabled on 29 January.The Union Budget for 2026-27 will be presented on 1 February, which happens to fall on a Sunday.Parliamentary sittings on Sundays are uncommon but not without precedent, having occurred during exceptional periods such as the Covid-19 crisis in 2020 and for the 60th anniversary of Parliament's first sitting in 2012.Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju shared the announcement.
