Assam BJP Slams Akhil Gogoi, Calls His Allegations ‘Imaginary Fairytales’

The Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday has launched a sharp attack on Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi, alleging that he has earned notoriety not as a serious politician but as a habitual narrator of imaginary stories devoid of facts or evidence.

In a press release issued from the party’s state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, the BJP stated that for nearly two decades, Gogoi has been fabricating narratives in his own imagination and repeatedly presenting them before the public as facts. While some people may initially fall for these claims, time has consistently exposed them as false and self-serving, the party said.

The statement further claimed that most of the allegations raised by Gogoi over the past twenty years have eventually been revealed as fictional, leading the people of Assam to no longer take his assertions seriously. “Today, his statements are viewed more as a source of entertainment than credible political discourse,” the release said, adding sarcastically that if there were a competition in storytelling, Gogoi would easily win first prize.

Assam BJP spokesperson Kamal Kumar Medhi, quoted in the release, said that the allegations raised by Akhil Gogoi over the past three days in the name of a BJP virtual meeting are nothing but newly scripted imaginary tales. “These claims are completely unsupported by facts or evidence and are being presented before the media purely as fiction, creating amusement among aware and discerning citizens,” Medhi said.

According to the BJP, by continuously floating one imaginary narrative after another, Gogoi has reduced himself to a subject of media curiosity rather than a credible political voice.

The statement also criticised the Congress and other opposition parties, accusing them of blindly endorsing Gogoi’s claims without verification. Drawing an analogy, the BJP said the opposition is behaving like “foolish children who chase a kite without checking whether their own ear has been taken away.”

“The moment Akhil Gogoi floated a new story regarding alleged voter deletion, leaders of the Congress and other opposition parties rushed to support it without bothering to verify its authenticity,” Medhi said.

Targeting the opposition further, the BJP spokesperson remarked that a confused and directionless opposition, unable to place even a single credible issue before the people, is now suffering from deep frustration. None of the issues raised by the opposition against the BJP-led alliance government under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has found acceptance among the people, he asserted.

The statement claimed that the people of Assam have already realised that indigenous communities and citizens of Indian origin are secure only under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. As a result, it alleged, the opposition’s sole political strategy has narrowed down to appeasement of Mia Muslim votes.

“It is for this reason that Akhil Gogoi and other opposition leaders continue to level baseless and fabricated allegations against the government and the BJP,” the release said, while asserting that the people of Assam are fully capable of distinguishing truth from falsehood.
