"Amid growing public outcry over the investigation into the demise of beloved singer Zubeen Garg, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged citizens to exercise patience while assuring that the case could be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if the ongoing probe falls short.Advertisment Sarma said, “I appeal to the public to grant the Special Investigation Team (SIT) sufficient time to carry out its duties. In the event that the SIT is unable to yield results and the people of Assam express dissatisfaction, we will promptly refer the matter to the CBI for further scrutiny.” The Chief Minister also dispelled circulating rumours concerning access to the late artist's personal and digital assets. He added, “Speculations about managing Zubeen Garg"s social media and other private holdings have surfaced. However, his spouse, Garima Garg, has not submitted any formal request to the government on this issue.” Sarma added, “Should these items be in the possession of Siddharth Sharma, and if transfer to Garima Garg were contemplated, no such appeal has been made. The family would clearly indicate any needs, as the Commissioner of Police maintains daily dialogue with her. Currently, their primary focus remains solely on obtaining justice.” In response to escalating demands for clarity, the Assam administration formed an SIT on Wednesday to delve into the tragic and unexpected passing of the celebrated musician, as declared by CM Sarma. Overseeing the SIT is MP Gupta, Special DGP (CID), with Rosie Kalita, SSP (CM Vigilance), appointed as the principal investigator. The unit comprises a cadre of experienced personnel, including Additional Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors, and Sub-Inspectors drawn from the CID and regional districts. The inquiry operates under CID PS Case No. 18/2025, filed pursuant to sections 61(2)/105/106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023."
