Assam: Eight-Year-Old Girl’s Body Found Buried Behind Home in Nagaon

The body of an eight-year-old girl was reportedly found buried behind her house in Nagaon, Assam.

As per reports, the incident took place in the Sapmari village in Nagaon district’s Rupohihat constituency. The body of an eight-year-old girl was found buried in a pit behind her residence.

The discovery was made on Monday after the child was reported missing earlier that day.

The girl vanished around 11 am, prompting her family and locals to initiate a frantic search.

Despite their efforts, she could not be located until villagers noticed freshly disturbed soil in the backyard, raising suspicions.

Upon excavating the area, they uncovered the child’s body buried in a shallow pit.

Local police responding to the complaints following the discovery of the body launched a preliminary investigation.

Initial findings suggest the girl may have been killed by 'unknown' assailants before being buried to conceal the crime.

Police said that all angles are being investigated into the incident. An official said that there are chances of murder or sexual abuse as well. However, they will not rule out the possibility of personal enmity regarding personal issues or even a property dispute.

The exact cause of death was not known, and the police are awaiting post-mortem reports.
