RBI figures show that Assam’s GSDP grew by approximately 45 per cent between FY 2020 and FY 2025, increasing from ₹2.4 lakh crore to ₹3.5 lakh crore. During the same period, India’s overall GDP growth stood at around 29 per cent, placing Assam ahead of the national average in terms of economic expansion.

The growth has been attributed to steady performance in key sectors such as agriculture, oil and gas, and infrastructure development. Investments in connectivity and public infrastructure across Assam and other parts of the Northeast have also contributed to economic momentum during this period.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Assam Pradesh acknowledged the RBI findings, stating that the data reflects the outcomes of policy measures focused on economic activity, development, and governance under the current state administration led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

BJP Assam Pradesh President Dilip Saikia said the figures indicate Assam’s growing role in the national economy and highlight the Northeast’s increasing contribution to India’s overall development.

The party stated that it would continue to support initiatives aimed at sustained economic growth and inclusive development in the state.

The RBI data places Assam among the leading states in terms of growth at constant prices, underlining a significant shift in the region’s economic trajectory over the past five years.
