According to sources, an organised group has been cheating people by changing their appearance and using clever tricks to mislead unsuspecting residents before looting their money and property. A particularly alarming incident in Dahara, Rangia, recently came to light, creating widespread fear among locals. Investigations revealed that not only outsiders but also individuals from different parts of Assam have been involved in such fraudulent activities. These fraudsters reportedly adopt different disguises depending on the location. In some places, they pose as saints, while in others, they pretend to be healers, manipulating innocent people before carrying out the robbery. In a major breakthrough, Rangia Police arrested two fraudsters involved in deceiving a childless woman in Dahara. The accused, identified as Jahan Ali and Mozammil Ali from Lanka, had changed their names and tricked the woman into handing over cash and gold jewellery worth ₹2 lakh. Police officials stated that several crucial details surfaced following their arrest, shedding light on the wider network behind such activities. Various groups and organisations in Rangia have demanded strict action and enhanced surveillance to curb the movement of suspicious individuals in the area.
