Assam Govt prepares to celebrate Music Maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika's Birth Centenary

With just a few hours to go, the Assam government is in full swing with its preparations to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The celebrations will unfold over two days – September 8 and 13.

Tribute programs across the state

Instructions have been issued to all DCs in the state to organise tribute programs, including floral tributes, cultural events, seminars, and lectures on Dr Hazarika's life and legacy in colleges and universities.

Key Events

At Dr Hazarika's Samadhi Khetra in Jalukbari, Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Lakshman Acharya will pay floral tributes to the legend. A film based on his life will also be screened.

In Mumbai, a cultural extravaganza titled "Ganga Behti Ho Kyun" will be held on September 7, featuring prominent singers like Usha Mangeshkar, Zubeen Garg, Anup Jalota, and others.

Prime Minister's Visit and Release of Rs 100 coin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 13 to attend the second leg of the celebrations.

During his visit, a commemorative coin of ₹100 will be formally released in honor of Dr Hazarika. Additionally, his autobiography will be released in 13 languages, further cementing his legacy.
