Gogoi, speaking to the media, stated that despite Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s announcement that Garg’s body would be flown back on a chartered flight with assistance from the External Affairs Minister in Singapore, no such government action materialised.

“I have reliable information that the state government did not contribute to the arrangements. Instead, the Assamese diaspora stepped in to fund the return of Zubeen Garg’s remains,” Gogoi stated.

Gogoi called on the media to probe the issue thoroughly and ensure transparency, emphasising that the public deserves clarity on the circumstances surrounding the final journey of the cherished artist.

It may be mentioned that Zubeen Garg died during a swimming mishap in Singapore. He passed away at the age of 52 on September 19.
