Assam: Two bikers killed in Sonitpur’s Behali as SUV runs over them from behind

Behali: Two motorcyclists were killed during an accident involving an SUV and a motorbike in the Behali area of Sonitpur, Assam, on Tuesday night.

As per locals, the accident took place near the Kherbari area of Behali.

Locals alleged that the SUV (a Mahindra Scorpio N) bearing registration number AS32D8115 was at a very “high speed” which they described as uncontrollable on the particular stretch of road.

The vehicle then suddenly lost control and violently collided with the motorcycle bearing registration AS12Y1351, registered to one Kalyan Choudhury.

The rider and the pillion immediately crashed on the road and died on the spot before any medical assistance could arrive.

Locals said that the Scorpio too overturned during the accident and sustained severe damages but the occupants inside it survived.

A passerby told the media that they rescued the individuals in the car and found out they were quite young and may have been in their early 20s. He also said that both the vehicle occupants were visibly under the influence of either alcohol or some other narcotic substance.

A tragic road accident occurred in the Kherbari area under Jinjia Police Station in Behali, claiming the lives of two people on the spot.

The Jinjia Police arrived at the spot shortly after the accident and have launched an investigation into the matter. However, the identity of the deceased individuals is not yet known.
