Assam: Two severely injured as truck rams into car in Nagaon's Puranigudam

A road accident occurred in Puranigudam under Nagaon district of Assam when a high-speed dumper truck rammed into a passenger car, leaving two occupants seriously injured and trapped inside the mangled vehicle for an extended period.

The collision involved a speeding dumper that struck the car (registration number  AS01DX5373) with tremendous force. The two individuals inside the Innova — the driver and another passenger — suffered grave injuries and remained trapped in the wreckage for a prolonged time.

Following the crash, the dumper driver (vehicle registration NL01AG5931) abandoned the truck and fled the scene.

Police and rescue teams responded swiftly, and using a backhoe loader, they broke open the severely damaged car to rescue the two trapped and critically injured victims.

Both of them were then rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the fleeing dumper driver and ascertain the exact cause of the accident. 

The condition of the injured victims remains critical till the filing of this report, and further updates are awaited.

Police said that efforts are being made to trace the driver and owner of the truck using its registration details.
