The Assamese film Adi Shakti has made the state proud by winning three major awards at the Global Cine Confluence (GCC) – Delhi Film Convention & Summit 2026, held in New Delhi from February 13 to 15.

The event was organised together with the 18th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2026 and the 9th New Delhi Film Festival (NDFF) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The three festivals together created one of the largest international film gatherings in India, bringing filmmakers, critics, scholars, and cinema lovers together.

The film, produced by Ayra Studios and directed by Bitupan Kashyap, Adi Shakti, won the award for Best Feature Film. In addition, Indraani Baruah received Best Original Story, and Arshia Mahanta was honoured as Best Debutante Actress.

The film tells the story of a young woman who bravely challenges male dominance and long-standing traditions. Organisers said this achievement is a proud moment for Assamese cinema, bringing attention to stories from the region on national and international platforms.

The festival received over 4,000 film entries, with more than 600 films competing. Filmmakers and participants from over 60 countries attended, including over 1,000 delegates, such as students and industry professionals.

Organisers described the festival as a lively meeting of cultures and cinematic traditions, highlighting both new and experienced filmmakers from around the world.
