According to reports, Samrendra Barman lodged a case against Agnibaan, alleging that the film contains communal dialogues.AdvertismentThe case was registered on February 10, and legal notices were sent to the film’s producer, Sailen Sharma, and director, Mrinmoy Arun Saikia.Following the filing of the case, the movie was taken down from the cinema halls. However, the makers clarified that the court did not issue any order directing theatres to stop screening the film. Despite the absence of such an order, Agnibaan was temporarily withdrawn from theatres under unclear circumstances.Addressing the issue during a press conference, Jatin Bora and the film’s team stated that the movie will return to theatres after March 12, depending on the court’s decision. They said that if the court gives them a clean chit and finds that the film does not promote any communal disharmony, they will proceed with its theatrical re-release. If required, the makers are also ready to make changes to certain scenes as per the court’s direction.The film had run in theatres for only five days before being pulled down. On Thursday, it was withdrawn from theatres, reportedly after the court proceedings began. The makers also claimed that several viewers had purchased tickets in advance but were informed upon reaching the theatres that the film was no longer being screened.Jatin Bora assured the public that the team will soon bring the film back to cinemas.
