Before entering the government service, she had earlier been associated with the Raijor Dal as an active worker.She joined the party in the presence of Akhil Gogoi, the president of Raijor Dal at a joining programme at a hotel in Six Mile. Addressing party workers and supporters, Bora called herself an Agnikanya and promised her political life based on compassion, inclusiveness, and opposition to divisive narratives.She said that she was coming home, her comeback was like that of a daughter regaining her ties with her roots. Bora complained of an increasing climate of instillation and division in the political life of the state, which she said is dangerous to the young generations.Furthermore, Bora opined that she would like to practise a politics of trust and unity whereby people will be united without divisions of communities, religions, and language. She discarded the politics which she termed as money based politics and stated that she would not be distracted by real issues that made ordinary citizens.“I neither have wealth nor believe in using money to win support. My purpose is to solve the problems that people are experiencing and be at the side of the oppressed, she said, and if we make even small steps towards inclusive politics then those steps will count."Reaffirming her commitment to social justice, Bora said she wants to challenge systemic inequities and encourage greater youth participation in public life. Thursday, she added, marked the true beginning of her political journey.Welcoming her into the party, Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi described the development as significant for Assam’s political landscape. He clarified that Bora’s entry does not immediately mean she will contest elections, and the party is still considering whether she should be fielded as a candidate or assigned organisational responsibilities.The Raijor Dal chief said Bora’s decision was influenced by dissatisfaction with her academic role and broader concerns about the state of higher education. He also called on the public, particularly voters in Mariani constituency, to share their views on whether she should contest from the seat.The Raijor Dal, he added, is working to strengthen its presence ahead of the next Assembly elections and aims to field a substantial group of candidates.
