Brother Attacks Sister With Sharp Weapon in Guwahati, Woman Critical

A shocking incident was reported from the Banunimaidam Railway Colony area in Guwahati, where a man allegedly attempted to murder his own sister by attacking her with a sharp weapon.

According to sources, the accused, identified as Manoj Kalita, assaulted his sister Monika Kalita, striking her on the head with a dao (sharp machete). During the violent attack, Monika’s husband, Suraj Kumar Mahato, was also assaulted when he tried to intervene.

Monika Kalita sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to KGMT Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have described her condition as critical.

The incident occurred in front of Adarsha Hindi Vidyalaya, creating panic among local residents and passersby.

Soon after receiving information, Geetanagar Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The accused is being traced, and further details regarding the motive behind the attack are awaited.

The Guwahati police officials said that legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
