"GUWAHATI: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Saturday made a series of political remarks on alliance equations, opposition leaders, and his electoral plans, while addressing the media in Hojai.Advertisment Launching a sharp attack on the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi, Ajmal alleged that Gogoi campaigns only in Muslim-majority areas and lacks the courage to campaign in Assamese-majority regions. He announced that AIUDF would field candidates in 25 Assembly constituencies in the upcoming polls. Taking a swipe at Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah, Ajmal accused him of branding AIUDF as the BJP"s “B Team” while allegedly taking money from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He further claimed that Akhil Gogoi is the BJP"s “B Team” and alleged that Gogoi receives money regularly to sustain his political activities. Ajmal reiterated that AIUDF would extend support to the Congress in the Rajya Sabha elections if the party fields three candidates. He said the party would continue backing renowned intellectual and scholar Hiren Gohain and Barpeta-based social activist Hafiz Ahmed, but added that he could not recall the name of the third proposed candidate while speaking to the media. Responding to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat"s remarks on population control, Ajmal criticised the statement, though he did not elaborate on specific policy measures or alternatives. Ajmal also said he would contest the election from the Binnakandi constituency for the first time if the party leadership asks him to do so. He claimed that AIUDF enjoys strong grassroots support in the constituency and asserted that significant development has taken place in the area. He further claimed that the Congress is politically weakened, alleging the party has lost Hindu voter support and now largely depends on Muslim voters. He urged Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to campaign frequently in Assam. Ajmal also accused local media in Binakandi of biased reporting, alleging that coverage favours Congress supporters. Also Read: “No Alternative to AIUDF for Minorities,” Claims MLA Aminul Islam"
