Kidnapping cases numbered 206, while robbery accounted for 102 incidents. The city also witnessed 59 murders, six cases of dacoity, and two dowry-related offenses, underscoring the multifaceted nature of criminal activity in the state capital.Statewide, Assam has recorded 8,894 crimes this year alone. Theft continues to dominate with 5,251 reported cases, while kidnapping and murder remain significant concerns with 2,567 and 732 cases, respectively. Robbery and dacoity incidents were reported at 219 and 64, alongside 56 dowry-related crimes and five witchcraft-related cases.The report also highlights growing social and cyber challenges in the state. Over the past 11 years, 7,765 individuals have been arrested in connection with child marriage cases, reflecting the persistence of this social issue.Cybercrime, too, has seen a sharp rise, with 18,315 cybercriminals apprehended during the same period, signaling a new front in law enforcement challenges.Meanwhile, drug-related offenses continue to pose a serious threat, with authorities arresting 15,543 drug traffickers and 6,265 users between 2021 and 2025, highlighting the escalating menace of narcotics across Assam.The Home Department under the Government of Assam has stressed the urgent need for enhanced policing, strict enforcement of laws, and comprehensive public awareness initiatives to combat the rising tide of crime.
