The accused, identified as 23-year-old Popi Akhtar, hails from Matinagar, Purba Tilai under the Sonamura Police Station area.AdvertismentDespite continuous anti-drug drives across Tripura, traffickers have reportedly been adopting new methods to continue their illegal trade. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by the Sonamura Police Station carried out a raid at the woman’s residence.During the search operation, the police recovered 5.985 kg of illegal dry cannabis. Additionally, a vehicle bearing registration number TR 07-0413, which was allegedly used to transport the drugs from Sonamura to various locations, was seized.A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, and she has been produced before the court with a prayer for police remand.
