Following Uma Chetry’s footsteps: Three Bokakhat girls make Assam U-19 squad

Bokakhat continues to shine in the world of women’s cricket. After national player Uma Chetry brought recognition to the town, another proud moment has arrived as three young women cricketers from Bokakhat have earned a place in the Assam squad for the upcoming BCCI Under-19 Women’s One Day Tournament.

The selected players are Laxmipriya Chetiya, Tinamoni Patgiri, and Dolly Kardong—all three considered among the most promising emerging talents from the region. Their inclusion marks a significant achievement for Bokakhat, reflecting the town’s growing contribution to women’s cricket in Assam.

The Assam team will compete in the BCCI U-19 Women’s One Day Tournament, scheduled to be held in Trivandrum from December 13, 2025. Representing the state on such a platform is expected to give the young players valuable exposure and experience at the national level.

The sports-loving community of Bokakhat has expressed pride and joy over the accomplishment of these three talented daughters of the town, hoping they will continue to excel and bring further glory to the region.
