GUWAHATI: A forest personnel was killed and another critically injured in a rhino attack at Kaziranga National Park on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at the Bordoloni Forest Camp under the Kohora Range while the two staff members were on routine patrol duty.

Both personnel were attacked by the rhino and sustained severe injuries. They were immediately rushed to Kohora Hospital, where doctors declared Home Guard jawan Sahabuddin dead on arrival. The other staff member, Ramen Bora, was critically injured and has been referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.

Speaking to the media, Arun Vignesh, DFO and Deputy Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, said,

“I am deeply saddened to inform that one of our staff members, Sahabuddin, a Home Guard posted at Bordoloni Camp of Kohora Range, was attacked by a rhino around noon while on duty and passed away while being brought to Kohora Hospital. In the same incident, another staff member, Ramen Bora, was injured and is being shifted to Jorhat MCH for treatment.”
