AdvertismentRajesh Sharma, AAP’s North-East In-Charge, described the situation as “extremely serious” and called for a measured approach that respects the voices of the indigenous population.“The BJP must end corruption in autonomous councils and government departments. Playing with the rights of the Karbi Anglong indigenous population will have dire consequences,” Sharma said.He further emphasized that Assam must not be allowed to witness a repeat of the Manipur crisis, stressing that resolution should come through dialogue and not force.Sharma criticized the ruling party for policies that threaten tribal identity and land rights.“Under the current BJP administration, indigenous communities are facing encroachment of their lands and cultural marginalization,” he said.He also raised concerns about alleged corporate land grabs, pointing out that thousands of acres are reportedly being handed over to corporate entities such as Adani and Ramdev, putting the future of local communities at risk.The AAP leader also highlighted allegations of corruption within the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, citing claims that the Chief Executive Member (CEM) misused public funds, including a Rs 150 crore construction project.“Public resources meant for welfare are being spent on personal luxuries, which has deeply hurt the sentiments of local residents,” he added.AAP has warned that exploiting public sentiment for electoral gains could backfire.
