The bodies were recovered from a single locked room, raising serious concerns.

According to preliminary information, three of the deceased were residents of the Borsamukh area under Dhakuakhana subdivision, while the fourth hailed from Shalmara in Naoboicha.

The deceased have been identified as Nirendra Nath Taid, Mast. Doctar Taid, and Dhananjoy Taid of Borsamukh, and Jayanta Chintey of Shalmara. All four were reportedly employed at a Coca-Cola company in Bengaluru and had been working there for some time.

The bodies were discovered inside a closed room under circumstances that remain unclear. No official cause of death has been confirmed so far. However, the recovery of all four bodies from the same room has added to the mystery surrounding the incident.

The bodies were subsequently shifted to MVJ Medical College and Research Hospital in Bengaluru, where the cases were registered on January 31, 2026.

Speaking to the media, a neighbour and close relative of Jayanta Chintey said that Jayanta, along with three of his friends from the area, had been working in Bengaluru.

“We came to know this morning that all four of them were found dead under mysterious circumstances. We urge the Assam government and the concerned departments to help in bringing back the bodies, as the family members want to see them for the last time. It is shocking that all of them were found dead in a room, and the families are in deep distress,” the neighbour said.

Taking serious note of the incident, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed senior state police officials to immediately coordinate with the Bengaluru Police to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Assam State Committee termed the incident “deeply tragic and concerning.”

In a press release, the party’s Assam State In-charge President, Dr. Bhaben Choudhury, expressed profound grief over the deaths and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. He also urged the government to ensure the safety and security of Assamese youths working outside the state.

AAP’s National Supervisor for Assam, Rajesh Sharma, extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and called upon the Assam government to ensure justice and provide appropriate compensation to the bereaved families. He further demanded that effective measures be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.

Further details are awaited as Karnataka Police continue to probe the matter.
