Assam Man Arrested 11 Months After Raping and Impregnating 17-Year-Old Daughter

In a disturbing case of sexual assault and betrayal, police in Udharbond under Assam’s Cachar district have arrested a man for allegedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old daughter.

The accused, identified as Samiran Das, was arrested nearly 11 months after the incident came to light.

According to police sources, the crime occurred on January 18 this year, when the minor girl became pregnant after being repeatedly assaulted by her father. Shocked and traumatized, the girl later lodged a complaint with the local police station, leading to the registration of a case against the accused.

Soon after the case was filed, Samiran Das fled to another state to escape arrest. Acting on credible information that he had recently returned home, Assam Police in Udharbond launched a swift operation and apprehended him.

Police officials confirmed that the accused was produced before the court and has been sent to jail under judicial custody.

It may be mentioned that the incident has sparked widespread outrage in the area, with locals condemning the act as an unpardonable crime against humanity and fatherhood. 

Many have demanded the strictest punishment under the law for the accused.
