"Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia, has outrightly rejected the findings of the People's Pulse Research Organization survey, alleging that the exercise lacks scientific credibility and is designed to benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Advertisment Addressing the issue, Saikia noted that Assam has a population of around 3.40 crore, with nearly 2.5 crore eligible voters, while the survey claims to have sampled opinions from only 5,000 individuals. He further questioned the methodology, stating that in several constituencies, opinions were taken from merely 40 individuals, which he said was statistically unacceptable. “At least 1 to 2 per cent voters from every constituency must be surveyed to ensure credibility. He added that the Congress party does not attach any importance to such surveys and remains confident of its organisational strength. He asserted that Bora never said he was against the scheme and reiterated that a Congress-led government would introduce more robust and people-centric welfare programmes. No Plan to Sideline Akhil Gogoi Responding to speculation, Saikia categorically stated that there is no plan to exclude Sibasagar MLA and Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi from the Opposition unity framework.
