"Garima Saikia Garg, wife of Zubeen Garg — Assam"s most celebrated cultural icon — has reiterated that justice for the legendary singer must be delivered strictly through the criminal justice system, urging institutions to act responsibly and without delay.Advertisment In a detailed Facebook statement, Garima said that #JusticeForZubeen is not a political slogan but a spontaneous and collective demand of the people, rooted in faith in the country"s constitutional framework. “Justice must come through the criminal justice system. The judiciary and the government must do their duty as per law — sincerely, responsibly and as expeditiously as possible,” she wrote. Zubeen Garg, regarded as the cultural heartbeat of Assam, enjoyed unparalleled love and respect across generations. His sudden and suspicious death had triggered massive public outrage, with thousands taking to the streets demanding a fair and transparent investigation. Detailing the legal steps taken so far, Garima said the family has been pursuing the matter relentlessly from the very beginning. “From the start, our family has taken all necessary legal steps. We have been continuously following up with the Singapore Police, Assam Police and the Hon"ble Courts,” she stated. She revealed that an FIR has been lodged with the CID, an SIT has been constituted, and the head of the SIT travelled to Singapore as part of the investigation. “A chargesheet of over 2,500 pages, including allegations of murder, has been submitted. We have also approached the courts in India,” Garima added. She further informed that in Singapore, a detailed statement on behalf of the family has been submitted before the Coroner"s Court by a family member. “All actions so far have been taken strictly within the legal framework,” she emphasised. Acknowledging the anger and grief among fans and the general public, Garima said the family understands these emotions deeply. “Zubeen belongs to everyone. The pain and anger people feel is the same pain we carry every moment,” she wrote. However, she expressed concern over attempts by certain individuals and groups to exploit the tragedy for vested interests. “Some people are using this unfortunate incident for their own benefit. They are indulging in character assassination and misinformation, even targeting me and my family through anonymous and suddenly active accounts,” she alleged. Issuing a strong message, Garima cautioned against misreading her restraint. “My silence should not be mistaken for inaction. My calm should not be seen as weakness. And my faith in the law should not be mistaken for compromise,” she said. Referring to the unprecedented public turnout during Zubeen Garg"s final journey, she said the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery, making the demand for justice even more compelling. “#JusticeForZubeen has become a collective call for truth,” she wrote. While admitting the urge to raise her voice louder, Garima stressed the need for restraint to prevent chaos. “Anarchy only benefits opportunists. Zubeen dreamed of a beautiful Assam, bound by harmony and unity,” she said. Reiterating gratitude to Zubeen"s admirers, she concluded, “The love and support of the people give us strength in our fight for justice. There may be many distractions ahead, but we will not lose sight of our goal. Zubeen Garg will get justice.” Also Read: মোৰো চিঞৰিবলৈ মন যায়। কিন্তু...। সামাজিক মাধ্যমত কি ক'লে গৰিমাই"
