Nagaon Woman Declared Foreign National, Given 24 Hours to Leave Assam

Nagaon: The district administration in Nagaon has issued a 24-hour directive for the removal of a woman from Assam after she was declared a foreign national by a Foreigners Tribunal in 2009, according to an official order released on Friday.

The notice, issued by the Office of the District Commissioner, names the individual as Sun Banu. It states that the action has been taken under Section 2 of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950.

According to reports, the order has instructed the alleged woman to exit Assam and the Indian territory within 24 hours of receiving the notice. The specified routes for departure include Dhubri, Sribhumi, or South Salmara–Mankachar.

Authorities have warned that non-compliance with the directive will lead to legal proceedings under applicable laws.

As part of the expulsion procedure, officials will record her biometric information and upload it to the Foreigners Identification Portal. Her details will also be deleted or frozen across official records, including the electoral roll, ration card database, and Aadhaar system.

The order further confirms that she will be immediately disqualified from all government welfare and social security programmes, ensuring that no state benefits continue following the enforcement of the expulsion order.
