“National Security Non-Negotiable”: Shrinkhal Chaliha Fires at Gaurav Gogoi

Guwahati: Veer Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha, has taken a sharp swipe at Congress MP and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi, demanding that he publicly clarify his position amid the escalating controversy surrounding his alleged Pakistan links.

Reacting strongly to the row, Chaliha said there can be no compromise when it comes to national security and insisted that the Assam Congress president must state his stand without delay. He asserted that the Congress leader owes an explanation not only to the nation but also to the indigenous people of Assam.

“National security is non-negotiable. Gaurav Gogoi must publicly clarify his position at the earliest,” Chaliha said, warning that silence would only deepen suspicion. He further cautioned that if Gogoi failed to respond within the next 24 hours, widespread protests would be launched across the state.

The remarks come at a time when political tensions in Assam have intensified following Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s much-anticipated special press conference held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur on Sunday. The briefing, considered highly significant, centred on findings from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged Pakistan links involving Gogoi and members of his family.
