PIL Filed in Gauhati High Court Seeking Judicial Probe into Zubeen Garg’s Mysterious Death

The sudden demise of Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg has prompted a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a concerned citizen in the Gauhati High Court, calling for a judicial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The PIL, now before the Chief Justice’s bench, seeks a thorough and impartial inquiry to uncover the truth behind the tragedy that has left fans in Assam and beyond in shock.

The court has scheduled the hearing for November 8, 2025. Legal and political analysts suggest that the court’s handling of this case could establish a significant precedent for addressing high-profile and sensitive deaths in the future.

In parallel, the Assam Crime Investigation Department (CID) has launched its own probe into Garg’s death.

A four-member CID team, led by an Additional Superintendent of Police and including a Deputy Superintendent of Police and two Inspectors, has been sent to Delhi to conduct initial investigations.

The case, registered under FIR No. 18/2025, may involve coordination with authorities in Delhi and Singapore, where the singer passed away, according to reports.
