During a public rally in Namrup, Dibrugarh district, where he inaugurated a Rs 10,601-crore fertiliser plant, PM Modi lambasted the Congress for engaging in what he called "anti-national activities." He alleged that the opposition party aims to allow illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to occupy Assam's forests and lands solely to bolster its vote bank, disregarding the welfare of local residents.

"The Congress opposes the updating of voter lists because their only goal is to seize power," Modi stated, emphasizing that his BJP-led government remains committed to safeguarding the identity, land, dignity, and survival of the Assamese people. He further criticized the Congress for committing numerous wrongs against the nation, noting that even after 11 years of corrective measures by his administration, much work remains to restore stability.

In response, Kharge dismissed Modi's accusations as a deflection tactic to mask the BJP's shortcomings in governance. "How can he point fingers at the opposition?" Kharge retorted, highlighting that the BJP holds power both at the central level and in Assam under its "double-engine" model. He questioned how the ruling party could blame others for failing to secure borders and prevent infiltration.

Kharge condemned the Prime Minister's remarks, asserting that the Congress does not endorse terrorists, infiltrators, or any threats to national security. "They are the ones causing destruction; we are not. When they falter, they simply shift the blame to the opposition," he added.
