Assam: Sukur Ali arrested in Nagaon's Rupohi with suspected heroin

The police at the Rupahihat area of Nagaon, Assam, apprehended an alleged drug peddler with a packet suspected to be heroin with a street value of over Rs 6 lakh.

The police at the Rupahihat area of Nagaon, Assam, apprehended an alleged drug peddler with suspected drugs.

As per police sources, the arrest took place based on specific inputs present with the police.  

Officials from the Rupahihat Police Station, based on the inputs, intensified their ongoing operations against drug trafficking on Saturday evening, leading to the arrest of an alleged peddler and the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal substances.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team targeted raid in the Fakoli area. During the operation, police apprehended one individual carrying a soap case filled with drugs.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Sukur Ali, a resident of Kanchanpur. He was intercepted while allegedly transporting the narcotics from Fakoli to Gunabari for sale.

Police said that they seized 10.93 grams of the prohibited substance suspected to be heroin from his possession.

The police said that the suspect is being investigated and interrogated for further details on the origin of the said drugs. It has also been suspected that Sukur may also be a supplier and not just a mere supplier.

While it is not yet confirmed if the seized drug was heroin or some other substance, it has been claimed that the street value of the seized drugs is between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 7 lakh.
