A crucial meeting of the Political Affairs Committee began this morning at 10:30 a.m. at Rajiv Bhavan, attended by AICC in-charge Jitendra Singh, APCC President Gaurav Gogoi, and several senior state Congress leaders.

Following the Political Affairs Committee meeting, another significant discussion is scheduled later today with leaders from various opposition parties. The interaction, aimed at fostering greater coordination among opposition forces ahead of the elections, will take place at the State Legislative Assembly premises at 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Assam Congress held a series of extensive discussions throughout the day as part of its election strategy push.

The meetings, chaired by AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh, began with a prayer session to pay tribute to the victims of the recent Delhi blast and to wish a speedy recovery for the injured. The party also observed the 137th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister, recalling his contributions with reverence.

A crucial meeting of the Election Manifesto Committee followed, attended by former Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Deo. The draft manifesto prepared for the 2026 elections was reviewed in detail during the session, chaired by Manifesto Committee Chairman Pradyut Bordoloi.

Prominent leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, former MPs Bhupen Bora and Abdul Khaleque, former minister Prithibi Majhi, and AICC secretaries Prithviraj Sathe, Vikas Upadhyay, and Manoj Chauhan, were among those present.

Later, APCC President Gaurav Gogoi chaired another meeting with party candidates who contested in the BTC elections, focusing on ground reports and organizational strengthening in the region.

In the evening, an important session of the Election Preparation Committee was held, attended by several key committee heads — Debabrata Saikia (Election Coordination Committee), Ripun Bora (Election Management Committee), Bhupen Bora (Campaign Committee), Pradyut Bordoloi (Manifesto Committee), and Rakibul Hussain (Publicity Committee). Three working presidents — Zakir Hussain Sikdar, Roselina Tirkey, and Pradip Sarkar — were also present.

Both AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh and APCC President Gaurav Gogoi reviewed the progress of each committee and discussed strategic guidelines for the forthcoming polls.

Today’s Political Affairs Committee meeting and the evening’s opposition coordination session are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the Congress’s overall roadmap for Mission 26.
