The post-mortem will also involve a team of doctors from AIIMS, the CM said.

The additional autopsy came after demands from various sections of people in Assam.

Following the post-mortem, Garg’s mortal remains will be returned to Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, where thousands of fans are expected to gather to pay their respects. The final journey to the cremation site at Hatimura, Kamarkuchi NC Village in Sonapur, Kamrup (Metro) District, will proceed slowly, mirroring the solemn procession that brought his remains from the airport.

A group of 85 select individuals, as listed by Zubeen's family, will attend the last rites in Sonapur.

Representatives from the Assam Sahitya Sabha, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), and the Leader of Opposition will also attend the last rites in Sonapur, joined by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and a delegation of Meghalaya ministers. Buses will transport attendees to the venue.

The cremation ashes will be handed over to Garg’s family immediately after the ceremony, with further proceedings planned to preserve the legacy of the heartthrob.

The timing of the funeral and last rites has been adjusted to accommodate the post-mortem schedule.

Chief Minister Sarma also issued a stern warning against those disrupting public order in the name of mourning, accusing some of forcing shop closures and disrespecting Garg’s legacy.

He urged businesses to resume regular operations from 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, warning that legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to interfere.

Sarma also called on individuals with allegations regarding Garg’s death to formally record their statements with the CID, cautioning that spreading unverified claims could lead to legal consequences.

The state has made arrangements for widespread public participation, including LED screens at various locations and encouraged village-level TV screenings, ensuring fans across Assam can honour the singer’s memory.
