Police imposed fines and seized driving licences of violators, reiterating a “No Compromise” policy against drunk driving. Senior officers from the Traffic Police and the Transport Department personally supervised the checks to ensure strict enforcement.Alongside enforcement, the police also adopted a citizen-friendly approach. Drivers who tested sober were greeted with red roses and chocolates, with police personnel extending New Year wishes. Near Dispur Last Gate, a vehicle bearing registration number AS-06-W-3614 collided with another vehicle, reportedly after coming from the wrong direction during New Year celebrations.Traffic police from Dispur Police Station reached the spot immediately. Both vehicles were completely damaged in the crash.
