"The third hearing in the Zubeen Garg death case will be held today at the District and Sessions Judge"s Court in Guwahati. Advertisment The accused are likely to be produced before the court virtually through video conferencing (VC). However, there is little likelihood of the case moving forward today, as the accused have not yet received all relevant documents. The court proceedings are expected to remain at a preliminary stage until all documents are formally supplied to the accused. The newly appointed Special Public Prosecutor is scheduled to appear in court for the first time today. The prosecution is expected to seek time to file objections to the bail pleas of Amritprabha Mahanta and Nandeshwar Bora. The government side will also seek additional time to submit objections to the bail applications filed by Sandipan Garg and Paresh Baishya. Time is also expected to be sought to file a response to the application submitted by accused Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma. Status of the Accused The prime accused, Shyamkanu, Siddharth, along with Zubeen Garg"s brother Sandipan Garg, and two security guards, are currently lodged at Baksa District Jail. Meanwhile, the remaining accused—Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha—are being held at Haflong Sub-Jail. Bail Matters The court is scheduled to deliver its decision today on the bail pleas of Amritprabha and Nandeshwar Bora. Both had submitted their bail applications during the previous hearing held on January 3. Legal Representation Shyamkanu and Siddharth have engaged a team of senior advocates from Kolkata to represent them. Amritprabha has appointed senior advocate Anan Kumar Bhuyan as her counsel, while Shekharjyoti Goswami has engaged advocate Sadhan Kalita. To conduct the legal proceedings in the Zubeen Garg death case, the Assam government has appointed five additional Public Prosecutors. In addition, to assist the government"s legal team, Zubeen Garg"s family has also appointed a private lawyer. Zubeen Garg"s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has engaged young advocate Pradip Tamuli to represent the family"s interests in the case. Court Proceedings Charges are expected to be framed against the accused during today"s hearing. In the previous hearing, the court had already framed charges against Amritprabha. The Investigating Officer, Maromi Das, was present at the Sessions Court today. Advocate Anan Bhuyan, appearing on behalf of Amritprabha Mahanta, was also in attendance. Zubeen Garg"s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, along with her sister-in-law Palmee Barthakur, has arrived at the court to attend the hearing.
