The festival started with the inauguration of the main gate and a flag-hoisting ceremony in the morning.AdvertismentThe festival grounds have been buzzing with activity since early hours, as people gather to witness the colorful celebrations. Marking its tenth edition this year, the Mahotsav features a rich lineup of events, including Maidam offerings, a book fair, traditional food stalls, and a textile fair.A special tribute was paid to ‘Swargadeo Chaolung Sukaphaa, the legendary Ahom king, and renowned artist Zubeen Garg, honoring their contributions to the region’s culture and heritage. One of the highlights of this year’s festival is a symbolic procession of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukaphaa along with a ceremonial representation of 100 soldiers, captivating the visitors.Sonari MLA Dharmeswar Konwar stated, “We have gathered here at the historic Charaideo Maidam to celebrate our roots. This festival isn’t just an event; it is a bridge connecting our glorious Ahom past with the youth of today. We started this festival in 2015, and this year marks its 10th anniversary. We, the Assamese people, stand here together, and in the coming years, we will continue to celebrate like this. For that, we seek the blessings of our ancestors.”Also, the District Commissioner of Charaideo district stated, “It was very beautiful. This year, it is much bigger compared to last year.
