The arrests were made by Basistha Police following an FIR lodged by jail authorities, after a news report aired on DY365 highlighted alleged irregularities, including the circulation of narcotics inside the prison premises.

During the operation, police recovered 19 packets of suspected cannabis from the possession of the two constables. The seized substance is being examined further as part of the investigation.

The two accused were interrogated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mrinal Deka, officials said. They were later taken for mandatory medical examination.
